What to expect

The S10 climbs from Zürich HB to just below the Uetliberg, and a short path leads to Uto Kulm at 869 m. From the lookout tower you see the whole city and Lake Zurich, and on clear days the Alps from Säntis to the Bernese Oberland. When a thin layer of fog covers Zurich, the top can poke out into the sun, but on many fog days it stays inside. The easy Planet Trail follows the ridge to Felsenegg.

  • Good with kids

A personal note

Depending on where you start, it's just a short walk or a 30 to 60 minute hike up. From the top you have a nice view over Zurich and Lake Zurich. What I also enjoyed is the good food up there and the playground for kids. The Planet Trail is nice too, so if you want a longer hike, you can do one. Worth knowing: the S10 from Zurich HB takes about 25 minutes, and the easiest way on foot starts at Triemli. The Planet Trail to Felsenegg is about 6 km, 1.5 to 2 hours, and from Felsenegg the cable car takes you down to Adliswil for the S4 back to Zurich.

Other visitors mention: Coming up on autumn fog days, hoping the top pokes out into the sun, and climbing the lookout tower for the full view.
