Privacy
This notice explains what happens to personal data when you use Peakobello. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible

In short
There are no accounts, contact forms, newsletters or tracking by us, and we set no cookies of our own. We don't sell data.
Hosting and server logs
The site is a set of static pages hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps. To deliver the pages and keep the service secure, Microsoft processes technical data such as your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser's user agent. Microsoft may process this data outside Switzerland, including in the EU and the USA, under its own data protection terms and standard contractual clauses. We don't use these logs to identify you.
Settings saved in your browser
When you pick a starting town, a "Staying near" region or a view (list, tiles or map), the site remembers your choice in your browser's local storage so it is still set next time. This stays on your device, is never sent to us and is not a cookie. You can remove it by clearing your browser's site data.
Map and place search
The map view and the place search on the home page use Google Maps, a service of Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. Google is only contacted when you choose Map or click into the place search. Google then receives your IP address and, for the search, what you type, and may process this data in the USA. Google's privacy policy applies. The place you pick is only used to find the nearest starting place for travel times; it is not sent to us.
Your location
If you choose "Use my location" on the home page, your browser asks for permission and then tells the page where you are. The page only uses this to pick the nearest starting place for travel times. Your location is not sent to us or anyone else and is not stored. The starting place you pick is remembered in your browser's local storage so the page opens the same way next time.
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you and delete them once they are no longer needed.
Forecast archive
We keep an archive of past forecasts and verdicts (in the code repository and in Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB) to check how accurate the verdicts are. It contains weather data only, no data about visitors.
Your rights
You can ask what personal data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to processing. Write to the address above. You can complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
Changes
We update this notice when the site changes. Last updated: 15 October 2026.
