What to expect

The Chasseral at 1,607 m is the highest summit of the Bernese Jura, a long grassy ridge with a tall radio mast. From the top you look over Lake Biel, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten to the whole chain of the Alps from Säntis to Mont Blanc. On autumn days the Mittelland disappears under a sea of fog while the ridge stays in the sun. Summer buses run only at weekends, so plan the trip around them.
