What to expect
A gondola lifts you from Kandersteg to 1,682 m, and an easy 20-minute walk takes you down to the Oeschinensee, a turquoise lake ringed by the cliffs and glaciers of the Blüemlisalp. It's one of the most photographed places in Switzerland, so summer weekends get busy. You can walk around the lake, take a rowing boat out, or ride the summer toboggan run next to the top station.
