What to expect
From Beatenbucht on Lake Thun a funicular climbs to the sunny terrace village of Beatenberg, and a gondola carries on to the Niederhorn at 1,950 m. The view takes in Lake Thun below and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau across the valley, and ibex often graze on the ridge. It's a quieter, cheaper alternative to the big Jungfrau summits, and often above the autumn fog.
