What to expect

In winter a cable car climbs in two sections from Andermatt to the Gemsstock at 2,961 m, in the heart of the Gotthard massif. A viewing platform hangs over the drop, and the panorama is said to take in some 600 peaks across the Swiss Alps. Up here it's mainly about skiing, with some of the steepest runs in central Switzerland. The cable car doesn't run in summer.

  • Snow all year
