What to expect

A cable car climbs from the Rhône valley to car-free Bettmeralp, and a gondola goes on to the Bettmerhorn at 2,647 m. A few steps from the station the Aletsch Glacier, the longest in the Alps, curves away towards the Jungfrau, and an exhibition at the top explains how it's shrinking. The high trail along the ridge links to the Eggishorn and Moosfluh.
